Rio 2016 Olympics Countdown!

Ri0 2016 is only one year away!

In October of 2009 it was announced that the 2016 Summer Olympic Games would take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 2016 Summer Olympics are unique in the fact that it is the first time that the Olympic Games take place in a South American country. The games will begin with the opening ceremony, set to take place on August 5, 2016, and will end with the closing ceremony on August 21, 2016. Preparations have already begun for the 2016 Summer Olympics, with Brazil spending billions of dollars to get everything ready.

We can’t wait!

Jessica Moore- Summer Success!

29 Jul

July 2015 has been a successful month for Jess.

Jess has won:

• The ladies West Midlands Area Double Trap at Griffin Lloyd Shooting Ground.

• The Junior Ladies Olympic Trap British Grand Prix at Bisley Shooting Ground.

• Travelled to Suhl, Germany competing in the Junior World Cup Olympic Trap event and came 4th overall.

• Won the Junior Ladies Olympic Trap UK Championships at Beverley Shooting Ground.

• Recently returned from Maribor, Slovenia representing GBR Junior Ladies Olympic Trap team competing in the European Championships and won the European Team Bronze medal.

British Summer is here…

The covers are off and Wimbledon is underway, a number of summer sports have begun and its National Picnic Month!

Wimbledon is on its way!

Wimbledon is a great British Institution, not only is it the oldest tennis tournament in the world it is also regarded the most prestigious.

Every year thousands of tennis fans head to Wimbledon to watch their sporting heroes hit balls at one another over 100mph! Not to mention indulging in strawberries and cream!

In honour of the start of Wimbledon we have put a list together of interesting Wimbledon facts….

1. In 1995 Tim Henman became the first ever person to be disqualified from Wimbledon.

2. During the Wimbledon Championships 54,250 balls are used- stored at 68 degrees F.

3. During World War II, 5 bombs hit Centre Court, destroying 1,200 seats. It took 9 years for the court to be fully restored.

4. Each year at Wimbledon 28,000kg of strawberries are eaten along with 7,000 litres of cream.

5. The records for fastest serve are Taylor Dent, clocked at 148 mph (2010) and Venus Williams with 129 mph (2008)
