MacWet Gloves Are a Hit for Filmmakers

31 Oct

Here at MacWet, we are always so pleased to hear what people think of our gloves and its fantastic to know that the ‘all grip, no slip’ technology helps you to achieve even better results, no matter what the weather conditions or even the activity.

We had a testimonial from a cinematographer that was so wonderful; we thought that it was best for you to hear directly from him!

“As a professional cinematographer, client demands often mean outdoor shoots in windy, wet and sometimes freezing conditions. Operating a camera’s precise controls, such as focus, in such extreme weather can prove very difficult and my hands have been known to seize up completely. Fingers need to be covered but traditional gloves are too thick and cumbersome to enable easy operation and the material often still gets wet. They certainly don’t give me the precise control I desire. One day a colleague told me about Macwet close fit gloves and I have to say, they were an amazing discovery. They allow me to have accurate control and grip, whilst still keeping my hands warm and dry. These days they are at the forefront of my mind and I never leave for an outdoor shoot without them!” — David Ross, Cinematographer, Brickhouse Productions.

Everyone at MacWet would like to say thank-you to David for his words and we are so pleased that our gloves have helped him stay warm and dry, with mobile fingers on all of his outdoor shoots.

Wonderful Winter Bird Watching

26 Oct

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

The dropping temperatures do not necessarily mean that bird watching draws to a close.  In fact the winter season means that Great Britain sees a unique combination of birds migrating to avoid harsh arctic temperatures.

There is still plenty for wildlife photographers to see and with MacWet gloves, it’s so much easier to stay outside for long periods of time as their unique technology means that hands stay warm and dry, never losing grip no matter what the temperature or weather conditions.

The autumn and winter means that there is less foliage on the trees, allowing a clearer view of some of the rarer birds that are usually camouflaged by summer leaves.  For patient bird watchers, this season is the perfect opportunity to see both birds that have migrated south from the furthest reaches of the Northern Hemisphere and more exotic southern birds that migrate to escape the summer heat.

During autumn, there are the iconic sights of flocks of birds cruising across the skies, red breasted robins in the hedgerows and waterways see a variety of migrating aquatic birds such as whooper swans, barnacle geese and many others.

There is plenty of other wildlife see and photograph.  Moorland areas and national parks will see rutting red deer, the coasts of Scotland will be visited by grey seals and Norfolk plays host to winter thrushes and waxwings.

Winter really is the time to get out and about, taking advantage of the amazing wildlife on offer.  With MacWet gloves, keen photographers can ensure that they capture the perfect images and make the most of the stunning winter environment with these ‘all grip, no slip’ gloves.

Whether you are a dedicated professional or simply a keen “point and clicker”, landscape and wildlife photographers are in for a treat at this time of year, which is truly one of the most beautiful moments of the year to capture some memorable shots.

MacWet gloves have recently been reviewed in Digital Photography Magazine, which recommends these unique Aquatec technologically advanced gloves for unparalleled sensitivity, protection and grip when out taking photographs.

As every outdoor photographer knows, sudden changes in the weather can make for exceptionally beautiful and dramatic shots. With MacWet, the good news is, you will always be in a position to capture them with proper grip and sensitivity.

Europe Retain Grip on Ryder Cup

1 Oct

Guided by Captain Jose Maria Olazabal and inspired by the spirit of Europe’s greatest ever golfer Seve Ballesteros, the European Ryder Cup team succeeded in winning the famous trophy in a dramatic final day comeback at Medinah Country Club.

With the USA team, lead by Davis Love III, having dominated the proceedings for the first three days, Europe required 8 points from the 12 singles matches to overturn the 10-6 deficit they faced on Saturday evening. Thankfully, Europe’s heroes delivered yet again. Olazabal front-loaded his singles lineup to ensure a fast start and the strategy worked wonders. The first 5 singles matches all went Europe’s way, with Luke Donald, Justin Rose, Paul Lawrie, Ian Poulter and Rory McIlroy all bringing home their points. It was then left to Martin Kaymer, Francesco Molinari, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia to secure the rest of the points needed, with Kaymer holing the decisive putt.

The Ryder Cup always  sparks an interest in golf, and that is certainly going to be the case when Europe have staged such a dramatic comeback victory. As Autumn approaches, the conditions are set to deteriorate with wind and rain across the country. However, that’s no reason not to get out on the course and enjoy a game.  MacWet’s “all grip, no slip” technology means you will have all the grip and sensitivity you need to perform at your best, whatever the conditions.

Golfing great and six time Walker Cup player Gary Wolstenholme MBE knows what it takes to win at matchplay, having famously beaten Tiger Woods in the singles in 1995. He believes one of the key things is equipment you can rely on to perform when you are under pressure and in difficult conditions.

“In wet, high pressure conditions, it’s more important than ever to have a secure and reliable grip on the club. But it’s not only when it’s rainy. This is equally important in humid or balmy conditions. I have never found more reliable or high performing gloves than MacWet. They really are “all grip, no slip” and they provide feel, touch and sensitivity when you need it most!” – Gary Wolstenholme
