Jessica Moore- Summer Success!

July 2015 has been a successful month for Jess.

Jess has won:

• The ladies West Midlands Area Double Trap at Griffin Lloyd Shooting Ground.

• The Junior Ladies Olympic Trap British Grand Prix at Bisley Shooting Ground.

• Travelled to Suhl, Germany competing in the Junior World Cup Olympic Trap event and came 4th overall.

• Won the Junior Ladies Olympic Trap UK Championships at Beverley Shooting Ground.

• Recently returned from Maribor, Slovenia representing GBR Junior Ladies Olympic Trap team competing in the European Championships and won the European Team Bronze medal.

Jess has used MacWet gloves throughout her success and loves how well they work in all weather conditions. “A glove which assists me in my shooting, no matter what the climate throws at me, the grip with the gloves never lets me down”

MacWet sponsored rider Jessica Mendoza all set for her third British Nations Cup!

Now ranked 74 in the World, rising young British showjumping star, 19 year old Jessica Mendoza, is all set for her third British Nations Cup team appearance and a bid to win other major classes, including the King George V Gold Cup, when she returns to compete on home soil for the first time this year, at The Longines Royal International at Hickstead.

Jessica is one of the youngest ever riders to represent Britain in Nations Cup teams and was a member of the winning British team in Rotterdam last month. She is now  the 4th top British rider in the Global Champions tour rankings and the second top female British rider.

Jessica’s horses have been in top form this spring and early summer with consistent results in Arezzo, Hong Kong, Paris, The Netherlands and Belgium. She has held her own against the best in the world, regularly finishing in the money in Grand Prixs including 6th placings in the Longines Global Champions Tour in Shanghai and more recently in Estoril.

“I am really enjoying the team spirit of the Nations Cups and am looking forward to competing back in the UK.  We always take one competition at a time and my main ambition for the next few months is to break into the world’s Top 30,” comments Jessica.

Facts About Fish!

With less than a week to its launch, National Fishing Month (NFM) 2015 is on target to match the huge success of previous years. More than 250 events will be running between 18th July and 31st August 2015 so get involved!

In honour of National Fishing Month we have put a list together of facts about fishing!

1. It is estimated that between one and three trillion fish are caught every year in the wild.

2. The only country that catches more fish than Peru is China.

3. Every second almost eight portions of fish and chips are sold in the UK.

4. The first fish in space was a mummichog carried on Skylab 3 in July 1973.

5. An aquarium known as the Aquatic Habitat was installed on the Space Station in 2012 to further the study of marine life in space.

6. Research has shown that goldfish remember things better in cold water than warm water.

7. In the league table of sporting injuries in the US, fishing comes sixth behind basketball, cycling, tennis, hiking and bowling.

8. The most common fishing injuries are sticking a hook through your hand or straining a muscle getting out of a boat.

As in previous years, the idea behind National Fishing Month is to encourage every family member to have a go at fishing. It does not matter what age you are, or what previous experience you have. Nor does it matter which cultural or social background you may be from. Fishing is for everyone!

British Summer is here…

The covers are off and Wimbledon is underway, a number of summer sports have begun and its National Picnic Month!

National Picnic Month aims to provide people with ideal opportunity to get together over a picnic and discuss advice, tips, recipes and enjoy the great British outdoors!
